My Great Big Fat Greek Lunch...

With only a couple of days until the wedding, my family still hadn't met Akis' parents. Akis' mom very generously offered to have us over for lunch ~ all 11 of us!

The gang arrived in a mini-bus which transported everyone from the hotel to Petroupoli. The driver wasn't quite sure about the location ~ no GPS I guess ~ and Akis and I went to meet the bus and bring them to the house.

Once they arrived, everyone was introduced and we spent some time out behind the house while Akis' mom finished the last of the preparations.

As we sat to lunch, the table was FULL of food. With the plates served up, the wine and beer was flowing and compliments were sent to the chef. Once the first plate was finished, we then started on round 2. Everyone was shocked to see that there was yet MORE food to come. Akis' mom, true to form continued to shovel the food onto Dad's plate and all of a sudden those who had only heard the stories of eating at Akis' parents, now could appreciate just how they like to force the food onto you!

After we struggled to eat all that was on our plates, we went to view the house that Akis is building on the top floor. When we returned we were met by the rest of the extended family ~ Aunt Tula, Uncle Ioannis, Cousin Jenny and Grandma and Grandpa. There were some challenges with language, however Akis and Froso (Akis' mom) managed to translate for everyone. Definitely a good time!
